This thread can be used for inventory/item suggestions other than melee weaponry and firearms, i.e.: medical supplies, misc. tools, etc. EDIT from MOD: Moved as although this can be used as a weapon, it sounds more like a misc. inventory item that can merely be used offensively. Propane tank that can be placed and shot on to blow up it, would become a good trap i think

How about bags/backpacks? They take up a slot, but if you click on them they have their own small inventory. And you can't put a bag in a bag.
Grocery bag/Purse. 2 slots.
Big purse. 3 slots.
School book-bag. 4 slots.
Army Backpack. 5 slots.

i mentioned this in Deon's generator thread so mods can remove that if needed
how about batteries that would work on flashlights/cellphones, small item. stackable but capped at 3 instead of 10. could do a system where using one battery would only recover partial {maybe one third} of the power bar. sort of like how eating 3 canned food is about the same as a bag of groceries?

Walkie talkies. Weaker cellphones basically, but can give commands over it if within same area.
Fire extinguisher: Helps put out fires, knockbacks people if used on them.
Alcohol: Get's drunk, grants a bit of pain resistance, but screen screws up.
Soda/Drinks: Increases food of course.
Flare gun: (Possible weapon/item) Signals supplies/national guard/other survivors to your location. Sets zombie on fire if used on them.
Binoculars: Lets you see XX tiles in daylight.
Toolbox: Could repair items, or help build barricades and such with less wood. or make it more sturdy
Fuel Can: For eventual generators.
Generator: Allows for power within a building/able to see perfectly, will attract survivors due to bright lights at night.
Radio transmitter: Allows you to send broadcasts out to radio's (Possible survivors have them, able to take orders from them or send out reports, might be in specific buildings)
Radio: Gets incoming reports from transmitters, and national guard reports.
GPS: Allows you to make plots out on the map to help you reorganize yourself, and find specific buildings.

I think it would be cool if there was an "alarm" item, that could be connected to doors or barricades, so that if a door or barricade is broken down and does not wake up sorrounding characters, a connected alarm would sound and wake them.
This could make CHAR Offices more difficult, as you would no longer be able to break in and catch them asleep.
You would also be able to try and tamper with or deactivate alarms.

You've got to be carfeull with alarms, you could be calling for every zombie and looter to your position. It would be a deathtrap for CHAR Offices ;D Giving us the option to use electronic devices opens the option for a Mechanic skill (akin to Carpentry).

I suggest chests that you could make with carpentry where you could put stuff and then lock it with a key

Energy Bar: increases stamina and food Canteen: increases stamina and food, can be replenished(where? i don't know)
Attachments (for firearms) Scope: adds +1 range Silencer: less sound Laser sight: +4 attack (requires batteries)
Equipment: Hockey mask: +1 protection Helmet: +2 protection Night vision goggles: FoV is not diminished during night (requires batteries)
G.E.C.K: allows to revitalize a post-apocalypse wasteland (j/k)

I like the canteen idea. Maybe in a later version there will be streams. You could also have a hydration meter to keep full.

How about a special Army Radio? Once per day/two days/whatever time, you can radio in for supplies. This could be the normal ration/medkit drop or maybe one that drops the heavy ammunition and grenades. After calling it in, you'll be notified of where the drop will land and be given some time to get there. It would also run on batteries.
