Right now the crossbow is a mediocre weapon, but I almost never take "bows" skill because it works on a single weapon while "firearms" works on a huge amount of weapons.
It would be nice to get a chance to retrieve crossbow bolts when you break something in the same way you get improvized spears/clubs. It would add a value to this simple weapon and make the skill more useful.

that would be very awesome indeed, as it would drastically increase the effectiveness for the bow long term as while being weaker, over time the ammo would be much more plentiful

Perhaps there could be improvised bolts that aren't as effective, or the construction skill could include the ability to craft crossbow bolts.

I would question a realism of breaking a fridge to get planks too  . The game is quite simplified in some places (look for example at damage system which is just some arbitrary points and is very simple), and bolts (ammo type) do not determine the damage, the weapon does, so it's easier to keep it simple and do not change the engine, at least for now. |

Personally, I want to use a longbow. Seeing as this is the only forseeable way arrows could come in late-game (to me anyways), this would help.
I still support this.
