My laptop, which is run by Windows Vista, won't let me do anything in the text things when trying to mod. At the top, it also says: "read only," so I can't mod, just look at stats.
Darn Microsoft Office. Darn it!

Try copying the files you want to change somewhere else, your desktop, alter them there then copy them back over the originals. You'll get prompted in the new Windows helpful way that everyone hates, but it should work.

My question is: Why haven't you got 7, yet?

Be sure to have an admin right so the system allows you to change/edit files. Also disable the copy protection when it is on so you can edit it. But I use Windows, I'm not sure if that works in Win Vista.

My laptop came with Vista, deal with it. You're using an out of date OS. Pirate it.

Protip: If you are an admin, and you know how to use command prompt, you can do anything Anyways I think for Vista you can right-click, go to properties and tic off the read only, and then edit it. Also if using Microsoft office, save an original, and sometimes that works.

I think that the reason is that I never entered a product code it keeps asking me about.

Disable UAC and get yourself admin rights and you can change any files you want.
Or reinstall RS to another location (you can play it from anywhere) or just copy-paste it.
