I found something weird in my savegames, it happens every time I play. The zombies enter a shop, and destroy all the shelves. When I enter the district, they are all just planks in the floor.
This happens every time. My sugestion is that they are made stronger/ inmune to zombie damage, specially if there is just one hitting them. Or make the zombies ignore them if they can get around like they do with cars. I saw them pathfinding around them, instead of getting stuck. With shelves, they seem to be obsessed. They just -have- to destroy them all. Why is that?

It's a lot easier to have the zombies try to destroy all barricades than to do checks to prioritize what to break first. They break everything because it's easier to code.

But would you want a game lazily done? Full of bugs because it is easier to let them be there than solving them? I sure do not.

But would you want a game lazily done? Full of bugs because it is easier to let them be there than solving them? I sure do not. I'll answer this with an example on why you want to keep things simple. Let's say you have every zombie on each map doing priority checks along with pathfinding on every barricade in that map. A reasonable speed for this from one zombie would probably be around 50 ms. Let's say you're playing on classic mode, where everyone comes back as a zombie, and a biker gang moves through your sector. They move through and kill all the survivors(for the most part). Then you have 15 or so zombies doing these 50ms checks every turn, which ends up taking .75 seconds for just the barricade calculations. Add that in with everything else, and you end up waiting about 2 seconds in between any actions, which would be unacceptable to most game developers. So you end up spending a week of your time optimizing this feature for a free game, despite the previous function working out fine.
Keep in mind that RoguedJack made Rogue Survivor for fun, not to satisfy anyone's expectations but his.

So, this game is all about him, right? So why is he taking suggestions? Why did he release the game to the public if he wanted to be the only one that matters?
No surprise the forum went dead. If you release a game, it stops being just yours. You have to be very crazy to ask about donations and at the same time having players to accept they are just donators without any importance in your plan.

Officially, Roguedjack isn't taking any suggestions. Keep in mind that I am not roguejack, and any information on his intentions are just an educated guess. I should hope he released it so other people would have fun with it. That's exactly what donating is.

No, when you donate, you expect things. Like this game getting better. Or the red cross to keep helping people. -This- is what donating is.

rafe, i get the feeling you're new to indy games. by asking for donations the developer isn't binding himself to your will, he is merely saying that if you provide him with funds he will be able to procure better resources to make the game better. maybe by donating money he'll be able to afford to fix the problem you're complaining about in such a manner so that it doesn't cause lag.
also keep in mind that RoguedJack is not a professional game developer; this is a hobby for him, not a job. the only money he gets from it is what little is donated by his fans. he has a regular job which takes up a large amount of his time, as well as most likely family, friends, and very likely other hobbies which take up yet more of his job. so please be patient, if people do nothing to complain about his game it's possible he'll get discouraged and give up.
