So, I have been playing this game for a while, and there is nowhere to hide supplies without being robbed in the early game. I never survived more than 6 days, and survivors went everywhere, including sewers.
I know they are supposed to be desperate, but so early in the game? What are they searching for in the sewers?
I tried hiding in store basements, but zombies simply destroy all the shelves and leave the stair in plain sight.
I tried hiding in the sewers, both simply finding a good dry place in the same district, or with a trick: I user the ladder in one district, changed to another one, and hid my supplies there.
There is just no way to keep things hidden in this game. Am I missing something? Do they follow food smells or something?
Zombies and survivors always find me/ my stash. No matter what I do.

Zombie's can follow your scent as you move through the map. To combat this you have to find an item that counteracts this, at least until you're in your hideout.
A possible solution to survivors finding your stash is to barricade off your supplies rather than just trying to hide them.

Can you help me a bit to understand the game?
If I make a big barricade, and then tear it down to be able to use that square, do I get the same wood amount I spent on it? Do they prevent npc from seeing what is behind them?
What is a good place to form a stash? in the sewers? I know char offices are good, but I have been there and survivors get inside too, when they can.

If you break a big barricade, you don't get the same amount of wood you used.(You get less)
I usually block off a street with broken down cars and hide my stuff there.(you can push cars into position. If you want you can use one that isn't on fire for your door, but keep in mind survivors and zombie masters can stroll right in.)
CHAR offices are great if you have a follower to watch the front door and a large supply of food(if you plan to stay there, not just store items)

I made a new strategy. I hide in the sewers ans spend time forming H shaped barricades in 3 of the exits. But Even then, I think other survivors might still enter, breaking my "H". Do you think they can? They take time to build, time I could be scavenging, and I'm starting to think there is nothing I can do to avoid thieves.
Edit: They do not work either. Zombies enter the sewers and wander until they find my barricades, then destroy them for no reason. I would call that intelligent reaction. Zombies are supposed to be stupid.

try hide supplies in corner of shop basement and plase shelf around it survivors in basements are rare and zombies just sometimes enter if they chase survivor so far is efective and easy way
you can alslo go to hospital (prepare shotgun medkit and flashlight) and go to generators *warning*everyone will be hungry and will atack you(first days) or evryone will be zombie(later)*warning* after killing jason turn on all generators and hide suplies in hospital magazine after hiding supplies turn off one generator *tip*if patients are still alive kill everyone because if someone will be alive hospital will be overrun by zombies*tip*
*tip*you do not need to murder everyone in hospital you can do this in self defense because if you have food everyone will atack you*tip*
