Hello there Survivors.
I decided to check out the forums today, as it has been ages since I touched the game, and the last time I was here absolutely nothing was happening. I was rather surprised to actually see a few users still saying things on here, although one of them was basically just spamming every post s/he could find.
I deleted the spam posts, but did not ban the user as of yet, since I kind of understand why we decided to go on a spamming spree. The reality is, things do seem kind of dead here. Unfortunately once Rogued Jack stopped work on the game, slowly people stopped playing, which meant no one was coming to the forum. I'm glad to see there are still some dedicated fans lingering, and I know many of the previous members of this forum would come back if they were able to get invested in the game again.
So, here is the difficult part. Unfortunately, I am just one man, and I do not own the game, the Facebook page, the Steam group, or this forum. As crazy as it sounds, though, I want these things to change. I can't make any guarantees, but this is my plan of action:
First, I intend to contact the people who run the forum, Facebook page, and Steam group, and work on getting those handed over to me. The creators of these things don't seem as dedicated to this as they used to be, so I feel it only makes sense to let me run the show. I could use these tools to generate more interest in the game, something that would be necessary for the next part of my plan.
Second, I want to contact Rogued Jack personally. I will first suggest that he try to post the game to Steam Greenlight. I think many people who were once active fans and members of the community would be glad to give it a "thumbs up", and having the game available through Steam could generate a lot of interest. I would then recommend that perhaps he see if anyone in the community, or anyone else we can contact, would be interested on helping to work on and develop the game more, so that if he is not interested in doing so the game will still see some development. I personally think the game is amazing as it is, and does not need too much work before we could officially label it as "released".
If none of this sounds good to him, and he would rather just leave it as it is and move on, then I will suggest a more dramatic solution: and have him hand over control of the game to me. It would still, for all intents and purposes, be HIS - but I would be the one in charge of managing it, by taking the steps I just described: Steam Greenlight, finding a development team, etc. I have been in contact with him before and he knows about my passion for the game.
Finally, I will attempt to contact the previous forum moderators, and find out if they are interested in coming back to the community, and seeing if there is any way they could help with the rest of my plan.
As I said earlier, I am just one person. I'm not guaranteeing ANY of this will work. Half the battle is actually getting in touch with the people mentioned and actually getting them to follow through with these ideas. But I see no reason why this game and its community should die, especially when it is such an amazing game that is really the only one of its kind I've ever played (Project Zomboid is fun but... just not the same!).
For those of you who ARE here, I appreciate your continued support. If you think you can help out in any way, feel free to contact me. You can contact me here on proboards, or via Steam at steamcommunity.com/id/ibazly/.
