I prefer to have a wide range of undead species, with the basic zombies resembling those from Night of the Dead, while higher tiers are something out of slasher and kaiju films. I put together an listing of undead species for a game concept I was working on, and below is the portion that relates to a physically powerful undead.
Tier 1 - Shuffler (Basic*) Tier 2 - Bruiser Tier 3 - Ogre Tier 4 - Mummy (Rare**) Tier 5 - Frankenstein (Unique)
*All undead start as an Shuffler, and have to eat an number of people to move on to the next tier, of which there are several species that an undead can become.
**Upon maxing XP, an Ogre receives a chance to become a Mummy. A good roll will allow it to evolve to the 4th Tier, but a bad one keeps the Ogre from advancing. Eating an large number of humans after this point will guarantee evolution.
Group Melee: Ettin------>Chimera------------->Hydra-------->Legion Single Melee: Bruiser---------->Ogres------>Mummy------>Frankenstein Fast Tracker: Bloodhound---->Hellhound------->Cerberus---->Lycaon Stealth Tracker: Stalker-------->Vampires----->Jiang Shi----->Dracula

I'm thinking a game where it's a BIG DEAL to shoot your gun. those shots travel for miles...I like the walking dead's figures on how zombies find humans, primarily sound and smell...
I want a game that doesn't FORCE you to have to avoid every single zombie, but instead makes you seriously question the use of generic "shoot em up" approaches. something that's more about really trying to find your way OUT of this hell...where eventually the reality sets in that this is what the world has become and your final *objective* is to survive.
and honestly, I'd rather have 2 kinds of zombies...slow, rotten ones and the not so rotten one's that still have enough motor functions to haul after your arse (of course, the more debris, the more likely a comical trip/fall would happen XD).
my 2 cents.

Just thought I would bump this, because you CAN change the speed, damage, HP and other things in the CSV files, located in your Data file. EDIT: Oh, and you can rename the zombies, and remake their textures, resulting in your most wanted zombies.
