While it's okay that zombies are undead and kill not to eat, it would add to the gameplay if zombies starved.
A hungry zombie should become faster and gain attack, but lose defense values. It would also make the zombie gameplay much more interesting an give you a bigger reason to kill survivors.

I prefer my zombies without hunger. A hungry zombie should become faster and gain attack, but lose defense values. It would also make the zombie gameplay much more interesting an give you a bigger reason to kill survivors. To give bonus to hungry zombies feels unintuitive, it should give penalties. Id prefer a feeding system for zombies that regenerates health by feeding of fresh corpses. Besides, I dont need reasons to kill civilians...in a game. How would you propose for zombies to "eat"?

Hm. Well, odd enough I can't really see a way to make this actually..well, look good. I mean, why would the zombies eat. Are they regenerating dead flesh? Just to eat? I think it'd be bloody silly for a Skeleton to even have to eat..
It should depend on the zombie family. Zombie masters I can see as they are less zombies and more unnatural abominations, but something like sewer things or skeletons? No.

Zombies always eat people. Sometimes for no reason, but they still do it.

Zombies eat brains because they taste good! very high in protein/nutrients, once you get beyond the skull it is easy to eat, no bones, not tough and stringy.

Brains aren't high in protein, the gray matter actually is the worst part of the body to eat, it's generally why most countries with an actual education generally leave it.

Playing as a zombie just gives me the perfect excuse to go and kill everything that moves. IMO hunger would just hinder the zombie mode.

Well, I meant that hungry zombies would be more craving for flesh and thus more aggressive. It could be an option.

What about hungry zombies= x2 their strenght and speed but %2 their defence, and once they starve they decay and turn into skeletons lol idk

Personally, I like Deon's idea. The less survivors there are, the less food there is per zombie, the hungrier they get, the wilder they get.
Maybe enhance their sense of smell, too.

This would probably make some of us to start sacrificing people to the zeds so they don't get insanely tough. :3
SACRIFICE! SACRIFICE!

If we could make cages or net traps like i mentioned in another thread, pretty sure we could trap survivors and use em as baits to lure zombies away

Zombies don't really have to eat. If they did, all you'd have to do is wait them out and they'd starve to death. They don't even have to have a digestive tract to try to eat. They'll try regardless. They don't have a metabolism. They don't really have memory like people do, so there's no reason for going for long periods of time without eating affecting them in any way.
Though, I do like the idea of traps in the game so you can use other survivors as bait. Lure a bunch in to a small area and grenade the place. Works for me.

I like the idea of zombie hunger. Reminds me of infected from "28 days later", who *could* be starved out. It gives undead another reason to actively search for survivors and not just stand around. Also, makes hiding & waiting a viable tactic to survive.
Lower kind of zombies could be made to feed only on live flesh, while "higher" kind, like zombie masters, could feed on dead corpses. Starved out zombie could turn into a skeleton, who lacks hunger, but is much more fragile. The skeleton then could evolve in its own way, into red-eyed, and then into red skeleton (if it isn't already in the game).
