Make an backup folder with the original files BEFORE you change ANYTHING. Or else you will have to download the no-installer version when you screwed something up. To open the files just use Open-Office Calculator or just a simple text editor(notepad etc.) to edit the files. The only problem i have with Open-Office Calc is that when i change and save the Skills.cvs and Items_Food.csv the game gets an format error. You can just reinstall on top, it's not such a big problem. I find that it's much easier to mod with a notepad than to get some office programs if you don't have them.

Please do not make "bump" posts consisting of three letters and overquoting if you do not have anything to add to the discussion. Thanks. - Deon

How exactly do I mod images so that they aren't black squares with the image in them?

How exactly do I mod images so that they aren't black squares with the image in them? Use paint.NET, it works with transparencies and the likes, though it's a tad harder to work with than your average paint program. For file type, I'd advise PNG. It's the same format as the normal RS images, it saves transparencies, and it keeps ALL its quality, regardless of how much you edit it. It's what I use for my mods, and it works really well. (except when I accidentally use a different file type and ruin the image)

I use Paint.NET and PNGs with auto-detect bpp.
- Images: (Alpha 7) there is a bug with GDI+ not dispalying properly some 32bits PNG images (sorry Deon!); fixed in 8.0! - CSV: Office style programs can fuck up the formatting of float values (eg: "3,1415" instead of "3.1415").
