Water, is a very necessary part of life. It keeps us hydrated, energetic, and allows us to last 2 weeks without food. However, I know a few people may object to this new change, so I will discuss how to make it balanced.
Dehydration:
Once per six hunger ticks, the hydration bar goes down one. It goes down two per six ticks while running, representing the human body's need for water after running for a while.
Finding water:
A new item could be added to the game, called a bucket (no shit, Sherlock) that allows you to carry water with you. This could be used for farming -see below- or to put into water bottles, that can be held in a stack of four. Drinking this water would give you +300 hydration in stats, while using a new skill "Nomad" would allow you to live longer without water, and increasing the amount of hydration you get from the water bottle. Say, by about 80 (+380).
To find water, you can search in supermarkets, which already have water bottles stocked, or look inside the Greenery area for wells, which can be an infinite water source.
Now, onto farming.
Farming:
Farming can only be done in a greenery area, with the tools necessary for farming that you can get from a farming store. The farming store would contain all different kinds of seeds, while you would need a farming kit -60 uses- to actually till and make the ground into soil. The farming kit also could contain a shovel, which could be used to transport dirt in your bucket to your safe house, where you can farm from there with sufficient light.
After, say, one week, the plants are ready for harvest. To do this, you will need to use your farming kit (again), which would require you to stock up on farming kits. You would get two of say, tomatoes. You can step on the tomatoes and they transform into seeds, or keep them and eat them, +120 hunger, raw.
So yeah, there's my suggestions.

I would reply to your post, nope, if it weren't for the fact suggestions are measured in the amount of replies it gets.
Anyway, I will add your ideas (and any others) down below:
Viewer Suggestions
~ First hands - Please explain
~ Water traps
~ Soil with water in it should turn it into mud
~ Humans/Zombies/Rats/Skeletons/Xenomorphs that step on them are held down, and slow down a short while after getting out of the mud trap
~ Fertilizer - Plants require nutrients to grow
~ Subterranean plants
~ Hydroponics trays for planting
