My record was 41 day hour 14.i was playing in an unmodded alpha 9 with 37% difficulty rating. the prob was that i had to murder 2 bikers cause they putted between my enemie and i .the cops can simply ignore me,but sometimes they don't.more than that , i was lucky hiding in the police station ,and had luck also to get in the hospital .myers was already dead, gathered food, found books in hospital. in this game, one mistake is deadly-

Just wait, the subways get overrun very easily. A small army of zed is chasing some people, they seek shelter below. Army follows, people get nommed, and then you have a ton of zed wandering around, breaking your stuff, etc. Underground anywhere gets overrun easily -- if it has stairs to the surface. Problem is when a zombiemaster wants to hide out for the day; they'll go down stairs just for that.

At the moment I am on day 96 and going strong. At one point I went insane just so I could eat a corps, kind of regret that.

Currently on my longest run of day 26 and counting. Just got to keep wary of random "Those guys" and disciples roaming the streets.

Cris Gates was the man, with him I managed 30 days and 5 hrs, on 275% difficulty - my most epic play so far, even had run-ins with "those guys", killed three of them. I was moving around first half of the game, second half - dug myself in hospital's storage, where I went because I needed antivirals. Stayed there for few days until food ran out, had to resupply, and once I came out of the hospital, all hell broke loose, with welcoming squad of ZM's and their cronies. Needless to say, hammered them all down, resupplied, had few more of those supply runs, each went worse and worse, with more bastards around, in the end, I had to sneak around them, since I was down to Jason's axe. My fav is unloading your gun on your target until it's down on health, them letting him come close and smashing him with gunstock. Holy shit, this run was epic.

to clarify, some things get destroyed, you don't think that when you bash a cop to death his radio, and gun will fully work, do you? maybe not his radio, but his gun should still work, as guns are generally designed to take a beating.

I'm ashamed of myself. 6 days 5 hours.

i like to get a national guardsman to kill me so i can play as my killer then i only have to sleep and stay sane and uninfected. this game is massively easier when you don't have to eat.

Sometimes I cheat too. I enter the CHAR office, get myself killed, then play as my killer.
But it takes most of the fun away from the survival part.

actually CHAR agents are harder to play as, because you have to fight not just zombies but everyone else in the game. sure you may start off with a fair stash of supplies and ammo, but that gets used up and then you're outnumbered and friendless.

and it doesn't really kill the game, since you still have to sleep. and it can still be challenging, since you no longer have to deal with eating you can ramp up the difficulty a bit.
