Compared to other skills, 'Medic' just isn't very good. A 20% boost from medicine is not very high, and from what I've seen most players don't bother carrying medicine anyway -- sure, those pills or medkits might help you survive, but you know you're going to need food, weapons, and ammo.
Compare this to the combat skills, or the sleep / food ones, which help you constantly with stuff you know you're going to need; or to skills like Leadership and Carpentry which add a whole new dimension to the game by opening up new strategies.
Perhaps, in addition to the 20% increase, Medic should let you use medkits multiple times -- one additional time per level of Medic. This could be accomplished by giving them a charge meter; with no levels in medic, using it uses up 100% of the meter, with one level it uses up 50%, then 33%, etc. This would make carrying around a medkit much more worthwhile, and would be enough of a benefit to actually change the way you play the game when you have it.
Alternatively or in addition, the Medic skill could let you use medicine on others.

IIRC using medicine on others is something that's already planned to be implemented at some point.
I agree with this suggestion. The Medic skill would be a lot more useful if it made medikits multiple-use, especially when running around with followers after using medicine on others is implemented. As it is, I'm not sure I've ever taken a level of Medic.

I always do med runs, drop a few medkits at my hideout so i can always go there and heal if i can't sleep to heal completly. And it's good to locate drugstores and run to em to heal on the spot, the med skill isn't that bad it does a huge boost and bandages are easy to find.

When you think the medic skill is underpowered you can edit the skill data with notepad so it's more powerful. I did that, because medicine were too useless to me for just a few health points.

It works on pills as well, Never needed to sleep again.

If using medicine on others is implemented, then the skill could be like: Level 1: +20% medicine effect on yourself Level 2: +20% medicine effect on others Level 3: +20% medicine effect Levle 4: +20% medicine effect on others Level 5: +20% medicine effect
You'll end up healing with +60% on yourself and +80% on others.
And maybe we could have more than 1 skill that allow us to regain health, something like Triage or Healer, that gives stackable medkits or HP regen.
Thou I still think the health system as a whole could get a little upgrade (injuries, infection and whatnot)
