The obsessive side of me demands I suggest that, in light of males having a bonus of two to health and to strength, and females getting only two added to defense... I think that both genders should be given traits that make them unique, like some kind of intrinsic. For example, make men have the higher stats altogether and give the females Light foot and Charismatic or some similar item to start off. One could alternately keep what is already present but give females an intrinsic toward the Unsuspicious perk (Justified by the trend of police not to immediately assume a woman would commit murder) or some similar items. Light foot would work well alternately. This idea is COMPLETELY half baked, but in concept I think playing as one gender or another should affect gameplay without favoring either but at the same time should feel slightly different at least.
Ideas?

No
Giving Extra Skills to females is kind of like giving Reds batons and the Blues Rifles and shotguns, it just doesn't work out in terms of fairness
You also Underestimated defense seriously, it's actually the MALES that are at a Disadvantage, That two extra health won't help you jack shit now(Back then it mattered), as for the Strength bonus? well, early on, you don't need it, you have guns and plenty of ammo, later on, you too DON'T need it, since every zombie you approach is a dangerous individual at that moment, would you want to get into a fistfight with them?
That two extra defense pretty much saves females plenty of Lethal wounds, meanwhile, the guys keep getting hit and all they have is two extra health

And the males have higher damage potential. Anyway, while practically the defense could be argued to be a better item than two extra damage and two extra health, the fact remains that there are two advantages however small to playing as a male character. The fact that both classes feel the same means that all one can do is decide which they think is better or worse because there is no consequence currently to selecting a specific gender. I think that by diversifying the experience of both genders the game can be made richer rather than simply picking a statistical preference. I'm not of the mind that free perks should be the answer, but it is a suggestion. I want people to choose a gender out of genuine preference rather than observing the statistical differences.

The 'gender skills' idea is very good, but it sounds hard to balance. We'd need to pick diverse skills, but they should be somewhat equal. In my opinion, the current stat differences are fine. Although defense is more universally important than strength when considering all modes of play, the differences are too small to be much assistance.

Okay, let's say this is about Diversity primarily and Equality after that. What would be a good trait for males and alternately a good trait for females?

"...the fact remains that there are two advantages however small to playing as a male character..." One major advantage == two minuscule advantages is how you're thinking, which doesn't make sense. Now please, let's not discuss this topic any more.
