As I've been playing with the new features, I've noticed that keeping sane is somewhat hard (and very interesting). If anyone has any tips to keeping sane, feel free to mention some. I recommend getting the 'Strong Psyche' skill as soon as possible.
I personally think that there's a imbalance between the amount of sanity-restoring items around (very few) and the amount they heal (very little). Maybe a bookstore would help...
Sidenote: Man I love that update but GRRR I'll have to redo my mod again to fit the new version!

Find a book, they seem to last forever, I've had one since day 0 and still using it (might be a bug, my character has yet to get bored)
Also, taking 1 level of leadership and keep your team-mate alive until a bond is formed, it seems to slow down the degradation of sanity immensely, almost halting it.

The only problem for me is that I can't find any books. Also it's not a glitch, books have only a 5% chance of becoming boring every time you use them.

Kill, Kill, and kill some more
But really, a good way is to keep a group of 2-4 followers, and make sure they don't die unless if you like going insane in a few minutes

That makes Famu Fatale's katana moderately interesting (it hits fairly hard, has only a minor stamina penalty, and is indestructible), if one blunders across her or it. Edit: Testing indicates the base sanity restored by killing either an unevolved skeleton or unevolved shambler is 60.

The insanity feature just about makes leadership skill a must. Without a bond with someone, you will soon be a sleep-deprived, paranoid mess. Once the AI takes over your character, the game turns into a warped version of "the sims." Watch you character run straight into a biker gang! WAP! BOOM! BAM! RIP! You need a bond, and with two bonded teammates, insanity is a thing of the past.

I just wish it took more time to get at a low level, so you can put over skills before it.

Get a follower. It is the only permanent way to keep sane. If you keep them safe, I mean.
