Great game! Lots of fun. I had some humble ideas that popped into my mind when I saw all those cars on the streets New Skills: Driving - Ability to drive cars and other vehicles. Mechanic - Ability to repair devices, such as cars, radio, electric devices. Rigging explosives, setting up electric fences/barricades. New Items: Toolkit - Needed to do repairs. Finite amount of uses. Gasoline - Needed for cars, chainsaw, lawnmower Chainsaw - Destructive weapon limited by gasoline. Lawnmower - Can be used to mow grass... or zombies. Gasoline needed. Comments: Not all cars can be repaired and some need higher skill level than others. Failing a repair action can result in breaking the device completely. Cars and other devices can be rigged to explode, setting off chain reactions if other cars are close. If you fail at rigging a device there is a chance it will explode prematurely.

The car (or other more appropriate vehicle) wouldn't be just about speed, but also a stash (container object), extra protection, driving over the weaker zombies (stronger zombies may damage the vehicle) and a place to sleep in.
If the game also introduces locks and lock picking skill you can raid other peoples vehicles (or they yours).
It should be one of the toughest objects to gain and many other survivors will be after it the moment they spot your working vehicle.

I'm not original I guess but I had the same idea, it would add quite alot to the game. Would you be able to transport subordinates along with you, and maybe different vehichles can hold different amounts of people?
(This whole topic kind of makes me think of the main character and his customised car from ROAD OF THE DEAD on Newgrounds.)

One thing that zed survival guides and movies taught us that cars are a huge no no. Here is a comparison of + & - outcomes: Pro: 1) Transport 2) Stashing items 3) It's a 5-ton Mega Lawnmower 4) Temporary Protection Cons: 1) Requires lots of gas so on avarage, it may get you through a week but with siphoning it may last you no more than 30 days. Since: - Since your not going to be the only one so other npc are using up gas - Not everyone car in the beginning would have the gas completely full so it's a hassle in the beginning if you manage to start it 2) Your like a vending machine to them since the only thing between you and them is the glass 3) If you manage to get it running, other npc would dare to kill you for it since not every npc will have the mechanic skill and a lot more other reason such as your gas (just as you need carpentry for barricading) 4) Cars can be a chick magnet but who said it doesn't attract zombies either with all the noise it makes Imagine instead of that truck, you inside a regular sedan. Now do you really think you can make it to the block?

I remember asking Rogued Jack in an email the possibility of automobiles, and he said that it is not possible with the system as it currently it...

I've been feeling I should mention this Meowth but this game generally doesn't feature the amount of zombies as seen in your image in the street, and despite the burning cars everwhere a vehicle of your own could still be something useful. And as for other survivors trying to kill you for it, that already happens with food, who cares if it also happens for cars?
You're being far too negative, even if it is only in the 'short term' they would have thier uses.
Still since it seems impossible with the current system it is a moot point.
