Just had a very quick blast on this, and the game manual said that there is no natural rising difficulty. Taking into account the fact that you're character levels up and becomes stronger the longer you last, does this not mean that the game actually gets easier as you go on, rather than harder? With it being a Roguelike and a survival game, I would like it so that it became harder, as it's all about surviving. But maybe that is the case, I haven't played enough yet to know. What have other people found?
Also, has anyone made the suggestion yet of being able to approach NPC's and actually making them an offer on what you and they trade, rather than it just being pot luck? Because I think that could make things very interesting, assuming the NPC's were programmed with a modicum of sense, and if they also based their decisions on what they needed at that time, what else they had etc.

Having said that, I read that the supplies begin to run out, and that NPCs attack each other and you, which would mean that the difficulty would increase. That would be good, because I like the idea that the zombies are actually more of a constant background threat, and that it becomes more about other people being the real problem (kind of like a certain TV show). I hope that's the case.

The game does get harder as you go, but only because of food, sanity, gangs, and more zombies. There are ways around this though due to a new wave of refugees appearing, carrying fresh food and ammo with them.

Yeah I'm sure it probably does get progressively harder overall.

Zombies becoming a background threat? Works in movies but I haven't seen too many zombie games that do this right. Part of what I like about rogue survivor. Gangs, starving survivors. Others add a whole new layer to the 'your screwed' factor. It just reaffirms my belief that people are dangerous animals.

True enough.
Looking forward to getting properly into this game.

The Last Of Us does this well, and humans are dangerous *and have nothing to lose.*
